Hey all! I’m so excited to share that I, Lucas, am hosting an AMA with Gabriele Vajente, the Deputy Head of System Science and Engineering at the LIGO Laboratory at Caltech!

I'm a huge fan of LIGO and the mind-blowing discoveries it’s made: from detecting black hole collisions to literally listening to ripples in space-time! Gabriele has been part of this journey for over a decade, helping design, build, and operate the world’s largest gravitational-wave observatories.

We're counting on your presence… so be sure to RSVP by reacting to the event announcement message with :stars:!

Never heard of Dr. Vajente? Here are some fun facts about him:

  • He’s the Deputy Head of System Science and Engineering at the LIGO Laboratory at Caltech, a national lab devoted to detecting gravitational waves from cosmic events like black hole and neutron star collisions.
  • He earned his Ph.D. in Experimental Physics at Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy.
  • When he’s not exploring the universe’s darkest corners, he’s often running in the mountains or stargazing under desert skies with his own telescope.
  • He’s passionate about advancing gravitational-wave astronomy and inspiring the next generation of scientists.

See you next then!
